Introduction
Today, as the world recognises the need to reduce, and ultimately eliminate its reliance on fossil fuels, the UK aviation industry is turning its focus to achieving Zero-carbon Emission Flight (ZEF). This report for Project NAPKIN (New Aviation, Propulsion, Knowledge and Innovation Network) outlines the conditions required to enable the successful introduction of zero-carbon emission flight in UK domestic air travel to support zero carbon regional connectivity.
Brief
To produce a compelling and informative report design summarising Project NAPKIN’s efforts to achieve zero-carbon emission flights in the UK. For the design of this report, we needed to prioritise clear data visualisation, cohesive branding, and readability. We also needed to ensure the report effectively communicated progress, challenges, and future steps in realising sustainable aviation.
Process
The design process for the Making Zero-carbon Emission Flight a Reality in the UK Final Summary Report began with a thorough understanding of the report’s objectives: to showcase progress towards sustainable aviation. Designers prioritised clear data visualisation, cohesive branding, and readability. Information was structured to communicate achievements, challenges, and future strategies effectively. The design aimed to strike a balance between engaging, photographic visuals and informative content, making the complex subject matter accessible. The report was prepared for both digital and print distribution.
