A Comprehensive Guide for Clients

Whether you’re looking to create visually captivating reports or effectively communicate data, this resource will equip you with the necessary knowledge and tools to achieve exceptional results. At Wond Design, we understand that the report design process can be difficult or daunting for clients who are not familiar with it. That’s why we have created this comprehensive guide to help you understand the different stages of the report design process, the key deliverables, and the timelines involved, so you know what to expect throughout the project.

Stage 1: Project Discovery

The first stage of the report design process is project discovery. During this stage, we take the time to get to know our clients and their requirements for the project. We discuss the content, timelines, scope, and budget to ensure that we are aligned with the client’s goals. We also check whether they have brand guidelines or if they need a micro brand created.
Once we have all the necessary information, we provide a detailed itemised estimate for the project. If accepted, we begin the process of creating a bespoke report template or a series of template options for the client to choose from.

Stage 2: Report Template Creation

Once we have agreed on the cost, timelines, and process, we begin the process of creating a bespoke report template. This template includes all the necessary graphical elements, layout examples, typography, colours, and some photography. We iterate on the design of the report template until the client signs it off.

Stage 3: Content Integration

Once the report template is finalised, we wait for the client to send us their final content. We use the bespoke template to build out all of the client’s content, letting the pre-determined styles guide the overall design of the report. Once we have all the content in the template, we send the client a first draft of the report design.

Stage 4: Review and Feedback

After the client and stakeholders have had time to review the first draft report design, we have a call or they send us a marked-up PDF with all the necessary and consolidated changes from their team. We then go away and update the design and make all changes until a second draft design is ready. We send this to the client and wait for them to proofread and gather final feedback.

Stage 5: Finalisation and Export

Once we receive the final feedback, we implement it to produce the final report design. We export it to all the required formats, and prepare anything else required by the web team or printers, should the report be printed. At every step, we are there for our clients if they need to change anything or have any questions. We are flexible to different deadlines, transparent with our pricing, and specialise in report design to make the process as easy and cost-effective as possible.

Stage 6: Promotion and Sharing

If requested, we create a series of social media posts adapting the report content into bite-size, shareable posts to help our clients promote the report once we have finished the design. We keep client files on file just in case they need them at any point down the line. So, if they want to create another report using the same template, we can do that for a reduced cost, offering clients doing multiple reports every year far better value than needing a bespoke template each time.

Conclusion

By breaking the report design process down into these stages, we hope to have demystified the process and given you a clearer idea of what to expect when working with us at Wond Design. Our aim is to deliver high-quality, bespoke report designs that are aligned with our clients’ goals and exceed their expectations.
